Dhammapada is the most popular scriptural book in the Buddhist world, providing a glimpse of the Buddha's teaching. Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita bhanteji discovered the Dhammapada while in search of truth, and it had a profound impact on his mind. To express gratitude to this holy book and celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita Bhanteji, his disciples initiated Dhammapada Day to spread the message of the peace.

Most Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita, also known as Bada Bhanteji, founded Maha Bodhi Society Bengaluru in 1956 and served the cause of Buddha Sasana through various spiritual and humanitarian activities throughout India.
